“A small lost paradise...”
5 of 5 stars by Simona K.

... ideal for the ones looking for a break, the simple life outside in the wild nature, with no signal at all!
It's more than worth it, as there are lots of places nearby to go snorkeling or diving, to enjoy a wonderful underwater world, you can otherwise only dream of! But therefor you need a boat, which you can of course hire including the driver, so no problem.
Very good food, various (not just rice and fish) and also more than enough, way over the average in the region!
Nice big rooms, the bungalows are all directly at the beach! Lock food and soap away in the closet! If there is nothing interesting, wild animals stay away. Get used to wild birds singing in the evening and geckos in the night.
Good connections to Ampana, due to ferry and frequent speedboats now!
Must do: enjoy the sunset on the bridge! Don't forget to put on Autan or Sitronelle (even better)!
Thank you everybody for the wonderful time I had! I hope to be back soon”

“Perfect stay”
5 of 5 stars
By public boat from Ampana we reached Island Retreat in about 3 hours. Our stay in the Island retreat resort was just perfect.
The cottages were very nice and clean and only a few meters from the privat beach away.
Furthermore, the meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were very delicious. Not only typical Indonesian food was served, but also western meals such as pizza and spagethi.
We did our PADIS open water in the resort. Our dive instructor John has a lot of experience and it was good fun to learn diving with him.
Island Retreat Resort is the perfect place to unwind and learning to dive while you will be served with delicious food!!
Thanks to Sylvie and her team for a unforgettable stay!!”

“Super Place, friendly staff, beautiful beach”

"We had a really great time at island retreat. Sylvie the owner is really nice, before we came to Togean she helps us with planning our trip. Because she stay in low season in Bali where she is working on a wildlife project we can easily contact each other by email. We made our reservation by email en sylvie responds quick. In high season she is back at island retreat and then it is the best to arrange it earlier than only one week before. Because we where in low season we had the hole retreat to ourselves with ofcourse the staff. We stayed for 2 weeks and we have got an amazing time. For us it was perfect to be alone and enjoy the quiet on the island. Second week there were more quest and that was really cosy. When we have dinner we eat at a long table so you can talk with each other. It is nice to meet different pleople with there on travel story.
The food was really good, in the morning mostly pancakes with some fruit. Lunch and dinner always warm food. We had things like pizza, pasta, salads, rice, potatoes in different style made. Also most dinner was fresh fish out of the ocean or sometimes chicken. I don't eat meat but my boyfriend does, so for the both of us where a lot of things.

The staff speaks a little English. the dive instructer Ubi speaks good enough English to say what you want or need. Ubi was really friendly with diving and we saw beautiful things. Around retreat you can snorkel perfectly you will see many fish. If you have more budget go on a snorkel tour! Also do the jungle tour if you want to do something.
Because sylvie stays in Bali in low season, her son Guntur is always available at the retreat, he is really friendly and speak English very well!

If you wAnt to read a book, don't worry there are enough at the big library wall, many different languages. We left also our Dutch books there.

Big thanks to island retreat, we had a really good time!!"
